The time has officially come for us to start potty training! We spent the entirety of Spring Break asking Peyton if she had to go “pee pee on the potty!” She has been a total rockstar and is so PROUD of herself.
The real key here to this whole potty training experience has been that she was READY. She would tell us when she is *going number 2* and immediately tell us to change her diaper after number 1 or number 2. This is a sure sign that it is time to start moving towards the potty!
We have two potty’s in the house, one in our bathroom and we keep the other in the same room that we are in at any point in the day so that it is always at the forefront of her mind. We also take this potty with us in the car or if we are going over to someone else’s house. You can shop it on Amazon here!
I have also bought Peyton a couple packs of fun undies that I thought she would enjoy wearing, a pack of Minnie undies and some pink ones that she picked out herself. She really gets excited to pick out her own pair each day. I think this is really important, to keeping her excited about the whole process and keep it fun!
I also bought a pack of Minnie Mouse Huggies Pull-Ups and she loves them! We are still doing a diaper at night right now but she usually goes all night without peeing and has been doing that for a while now.
Each day isn’t perfect, but when she does have accidents- she realizes it and knows that wasn’t what she was supposed to do. Yesterday was also her first day going back to school since Spring Break, so we’ll see how she handles using the potty at school when fun things are going on around her.
I have read so many articles, studies and even the famous Oh Crap! Potty Training book, that has helped us get to this point. But at the end of the day, it’s so important that your little one be ready for this big life change! To be completely honest, it’s been hard on all of us. It’s something else to add to our busy day when changing diapers is so easy and quick. But I am so proud of how quickly she has jumped into this process. Best of luck to all of you out there who are about to go through the same thing! I am on your side!
