Hendersonville, NC City Guide
Nestled in the mountains of Western North Carolina, you can find our home, Hendersonville, NC. Located conveniently between Asheville, NC and Greenville, SC, this little town is the perfect spot. And many people agree, because it has turned into such a tourist destination. However, to us- it’s always just been HOME. Today I want to share some of my favorite things about Hendersonville! Below you will find carefully curated lists of my favorite stores, restaurants, and things to do around Hendersonville. If you come visit, let us know!

Favorite Restaurants:
Harry’s & Piggy’s– A little local hole in the wall, Harry’s is the cafe and you can find ice cream at Piggy’s. My mom worked here as a teenager and fun fact, we even know Miss Piggy (the real person, not the muppet)!
Hot Dog World– This little slice of heaven has the BEST greek salad that you will ever eat. This is probably the number one must try restaurant in town, if you ask me.
Mezzaluna– This is a fancy favorite for me. They are mostly Italian based food, they have pizza and pasta and my favorite is the chicken parmesan! They also have a great little starter, the “mezzaluna salad,” it is definitely my favorite salad dressing around town.
A Day in the Country– My grandmother used to love this place! There is a small cafe serving soups and sandwiches and a HUGE store to shop through afterwards. You can definitely spend a couple of hours here looking around!
Alykat- We are here 1-2 times a week and if you go, tell Tom that we sent you! They have subs and salads and paninis and it is definitely the fastest service you will find around town. They are mainly just open for lunch. Oh, and I can’t forget about their homemade soups. Dare I say, this is my FAVORITE of them all!
Favorite Shops:
Moonshine & Magnolias– Our friends opened this sweet gift shop a few years back. They have all the great name brands- Scout, Spartina, Happy Everything, Barefoot Dreams, and more! They also carry Mud Pie and a great selection of “bride” gifts! They are getting in new products all the time, I always stop by when I am on Main Street for lunch!
Dish-Girl– Dish-Girl is a new find for me. They primarily sell Fiesta dishes, but they also sell Nora Fleming! If you see our stories, you know that I LOVE my new Nora Fleming platters. They have fun interchangeable pieces that go with every single occasion!
The Wrinkled Egg– The Wrinkled Egg is a store in Flat Rock, just ten minutes down the road from downtown Hendersonville. Flat Rock is small, but they have a big presence. You often hear it referred to as the “Little Charleston of the Mountains.” The Wrinkled Egg is also a gift shop that you can get lost in for hours!
Maddox & Co.– Formerly known as Merch on Main, this shop used to reside on Main Street but has recently found its home in our Blue Ridge Mall. I have a few tops from them and they are the best quality, at a great price. The staff is so friendly and helpful, this is a must visit!
Things To Do:
Hands On! Children’s Museum– If you have little ones, this should most definitely be on the top of your list! Located right on Main Street, there is a giant play place for kids! Everything is literally “Hand’s On!” and makes for a great day of fun!
Timber Axe Throwing– I haven’t personally tried axe throwing because I don’t think I’d be too good at it, but Timber opened up not too long ago and it has been the hit of the town! Everyone loves it! If this is an activity that you enjoy, check out this place! They also serve Flat Rock Cider which is our all time favorite!
Shine’s Rooftop Bar– The only rooftop bar in Hendersonville lives right on Main Street across from the historic courthouse. It has the best view! My personal favorite at Shine is the margarita. The rooftop is only open in the summer on warm nights, so plan ahead!
Wine Tasting- Asheville is known for all the breweries that now live there, but little do people know that we have some incredible wineries right down the road in Hendersonville! My all-time favorite is Burntshirt Vineyards. In the summer they do two flavors of wine slushies and you can be sure to find me here many Sunday afternoon’s during the summer. Other favorites include: Saint Paul’s Vineyard, Market Tree, and Point Lookout!
I hope you enjoyed getting a little look-see into our town that we love so much! Seriously, come visit- and let us know!
